Wake up, stare at the ceiling, sigh and press the snooze button. Suddenly you're late, groggy, and you just cannot seem to get enough caffeine into your face.
Does this sound familiar?
I am no stranger to the snooze button, so I can say from personal experience how hard it is to stop...or start, rather. That first decision really adds up, and it has been stunting my creativity and energy. Truthfully, I'm tired of being so tired! Instead of cowering into the covers, I am taking on a 30 day no snooze challenge!
My goal is to see what changes occur in my life, mood/eating habits/creativity/energy.
Why do we so love to put off the day, for a lousy 5/10/20 minutes of in-between-anxiety-ridden moments? Chances are you aren't getting the quality sleep your body needs and deserves.
How sleep deprivation effects you
-Likely to gain weight
-Higher risk of illness
-You are more likely to struggle with your emotions
-Higher risk of injury
-Your brain does not function optimally
So if all of this is happening to us, how are we supposed to live our best lives?
Lets start when the day starts.
How to get better sleep
-Invest in quality bedding
-Limit caffeine intake
-Limit beverages before bed
-Keep your bedroom dark and quiet
-Engage in regular exercise
-Turn off computer or television
-Maintain a consistent daily schedule
-Don't go to bed on a full or empty stomach
